How to Transform Feminine, Bohemian Pieces into a Grunge Look | A Rose in Bloom
how to mix bohemian and grunge
You guys, I was not very motivated to write this week. I'll be honest - I'm just tired. I'm not one of those bloggers who has a list of things to teach and chooses her outfits accordingly. No, I photograph outfits that make me feel happy and then see if there is something to come from it. Usually, I also wear a lot of the same pieces because my core wardrobe makes me so happy that there is no reason not to restyle, restyle, restyle. Why spend my hard earned money on new clothes when I already have so many beautiful pieces to love? So here is this slip, yet again, but with a twist I've never used before - for this slip at least. A 90s grunge-esque look.  So that's it, let's talk about grunge.

Turning this feminine slip into a 90s grunge look was not as hard as it seems. In fact, it was quite an accident. One of those "what the heck do I wear today" days. When I don't know what to wear, and know that I do NOT want a jeans and tee basic look, I grab one of these slips (that I own in three colors - for shame!) and make something out of it. Today, I grabbed my favorite thrifted black tee, put on some denim cutoffs (key for these see through pieces) and threw on this slip. Wearing my worn out boots that should really be replaced soon only added the grunge aesthetic I had then created. Then again, my grunge looks are typically happy accidents, so why should I be surprised?

I will say, though, that I love when I can add grunge to my more feminine pieces. It feels inspiring, versatile, and because I associate grunge with fall, gets me excited now that the leaves are turning and the temperatures are cool enough for tall socks but not so cool that I need a jacket everywhere I go. In other words: the world is perfect right now.

So do yourself a favor, get out there and transform your own lacy, feminine pieces into something grungey. Throw on an old shirt that looks like crap with a cute dress. Put on your all too worn out combat boots. Sit around in a scruffy looking alley way. Maybe grab a cute floral skater dress with a cropped sweater and Doc Martens. Even ripped cutoffs with a plaid shirt and grimey tank top will transform any style into grunge. Let your hair be messy and just don't give a crap.

How do you like to do grunge best? I'm thinking of having a series of grunge related fashion posts, maybe for November since I already have plans for October. Would that interest you?

P.S. I really do need new boots though. Any suggestions for non Doc combat boots that are high quality? Docs make my feet look huuuuuuuge.
