Lexington Cemetery | A Rose in Bloom

Normally one visits a cemetery for mourning. Here, however, the biggest cemetery in town is know for it's beauty. We go to picnic, celebrate, appreciate. I do believe some have even used this cemetery as an elopement spot. That seems, to me, a much better way to honor the dead. Celebrating the lives past, wishing them peace, appreciating the nature that greets them with every sunrise. Instead of being gloomy and creepy, it celebrates the joys of life. I know that if I am ever buried, I hope youth dances on my grave. What do you think?

  2. These photos are beautiful. It's true, there are some cemeteries that are really beautiful & peaceful, although I'm not sure I want to be buried when that day comes.
My husband's grandfather recently passed away and the burial was at the Chacarita cemetery. It was my first time there and I couldn't believe how beautiful it was---full of grass and trees, it was like a little countryside town, gated in, inside of Buenos Aires. Although, it is a really strange feeling being in such a beautiful place on such a sad day.
Did you ever visit the Chacarita cemetery when you were in Buenos Aires?

    1. I don't think I did, actually. I know I went to the Recoleta cemetery and there were cats everywhere. So many cats. I think it's kinda important to have beautiful cemeteries. I think it takes away from gloom and show respect to the dead, just IMO. If I ever get to return to BA I will definitely check out the Chacarita cemetery!

  3. I think cemeterys can be wonderful places to go, they're so quite and peaceful, and it can be a place to go and just talk, I reckon the dead listen to you.
I love visiting my nan's grave and talking to her, also taking her flowers for every occasion.
