Summer Nights and the Power of Looking Up | A Rose in Bloom

"When I admire the wonders of a sunset or the beauty of the moon, my soul expands in the worship of the creator." - Mahatma Gandhi

If you remember from my Summer Bucket List, I want to spend more time looking up, because sometimes the most beautiful things in the world are in the sky, just waiting for you to notice. The sky is patient, waiting to strike awe as your mouth slowly cracks and clean air engulfs your lungs in a tidal wave.

Looking up, you feel so weak and small and you know everything and nothing.
Looking up, you feel open.
Looking up, you feel stretched and tall and nothing can stop you.

Looking up, we feel receptive to new experiences. Everyone once in a while, make a point to open your chest, raise your chin, and feel all that looking up brings to you.

  1. Very existential. Looking up at the sky will make me feel tiny instantaneously. :]

    1. Oh yes, we really are like tiny grains of sand. That is oddly soothing to me. It makes the things we dislike feel a little less extreme. Thank you!

  2. I'm glad you're doing this. Not enough people do and there's so much beauty around us.

    1. Being frugal has many benefits, including finding free entertainment in whichever form you can. Nature is the best free entertainment. Thanks!

  3. I can just stare and stare at the sky, especially a desert sky, and completely disconnect. There's nothing better than enjoying the planet's beauty and just say, "Wow."
