Happy Halloween, my loves. In just a few days fall will be officially launched with all its glory and today, these pictures tell a little story. A story of fear. For in this week things lurk in the shadows waiting to remind us of imminent death. For some, this is too frightening of a thought and they turn their thoughts to pillowcases full of candy.
I, however, have always loved Halloween, with all its most foul folklore. Perhaps it is because my family was on the conservative side and avoided the holiday, but Halloween has always held a special place in my heart. I think it’s the celebration of fall really and truly arriving – the temperatures are cool, but not cold. The sun’s levels are perfection. However, my love of Halloween also stems from the fact that we recognize this otherworldly spiritual realm and a fear of ghosts becomes not so childish after all, but a real consideration.
Finally, my favorite holiday rolls around once more. Time to hand out candy, carve a pumpkin, watch horror films, and eat waaay too much sugar. I love this time of year. It seems so much less stressful than other holidays. No expectations, just pure fun, plain and simple. No stressful meal preparation, no family to buy for, no bugging of any kind. I love it.
In fact, here are 8 Random Facts about Halloween that you might now have known. I did not know that seeing a spider on Halloween means a loved one is watching you!

Here is a look at my Halloween costume. We didn't have any parties to go to, so I kept it simple with stuff I already have. Sometimes that is the best way though! The only thing I bought specifically for Halloween was the hat, which I decorated myself. Outfit details will be below. Thanks to my wonderful husband for taking pictures of me. I apologize for any awkward faces in advance.. it was very windy and almost blew my hat away.
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I get to dress however I want, drink too much, eat too much candy, and give things to adorable children. Waaaaaay better than Christmas. Plus, I love gothic decor, so Halloween and I go hand in hand. In honor of my favorite time of the year, here are some of my favorite vintage postcards and truly terrifying costumes.
Now for some creepy as hell costumes. Today, we tend to lean more towards sexy, cute, cuddly, or funny. However, the Victorian and Edwardian eras knew how to make a kid wet themselves. Would you want to see any of these standing over your bed at night?
This one is just scary in a weird way. Those eyes will appear in your closet at random. Via Pinterest.
And in case you weren't already checking under the bed for haunts, this song will make you afraid to turn your head. Seriously, I fear this melody.
Like a feeling that I'm down
Deep inside my heart
Like I'm looking out through
Splitting blood red
Windows in my heart
From a higher up than heaven
And a harder down than stone
Shake the fear that always clawing
Pulls me clawing down alone
As I spitting splitting blood red
Breaking windows in my heart
And the past is taunting
Fear of ghosts
Is forcing me apart
And the further I get
From the things that I care about
The less I care about
How much further away I get...
I am lost again
With everything gone
And more alone
Than I have ever been
I expect you to understand
To feel it too
But I know that even if you will
You cannot ever help me
Nor can I
Ever help you
I will post photos of my costume later! Have a Happy Halloween!
